In todays environment of sophisticated drug testing anyone participating in competitive sports needs to find an edge in diet and exercise routines rather than drugs or steroids.

How do you do this? How can you get the body of your dreams? Those ripped muscles, six-pack abs, or just great definition?

You look back to favorites of the past, Arnold Schwarzenegger, or baseball players like Barry Bonds, Ken Caminiti, and Jose Canseco, and say but there is all this evidence that they got their edge by taking steroids.

I cannot compete with that. I will have to find a way to cheat the tests in order to make my mark on the sport.

Consider the smart choice, the no performance enhancing products choice. Think about the effects on your body. Think about the long term effects on your psyche, if you do cheat your way to a win. I'm sure that is why Ken and Jose finally came forward and admitted their use of drugs. They simply could not live with the lies any longer.

Can you really get that physique without the use of drugs?

Scientific evidence suggests you can. The caveat is that you need to have a certain body type that with hard work will respond by building the large muscles you are striving for.

However, even if you do not have genetics on your side, you can still build a strong, lean body with a good nutrition and exercise plan.

Remember your muscles require protein to maintain, repair, as well as build new muscles. However, that does not mean any old protein will do. Animal protein, whether from lean beef, fish, turkey, eggs, chicken is best. Some of you may be saying but I don't have time to eat that much meat. Can't I just drink a protein shake? The fact is your body finds animal based protein much easier to digest and use than the protein powder.

But I do not have time to eat. In that case using a whey protein powder as a supplement is the best choice out of the protein powder choices. When building muscles the best thing you can do for your body is to eat 5-6 meals a day and spread the protein over those meals.
